Good Old Chili Con Carne, pg. 172 Jamie’s Food Revolution

Much like the fajitas in Jamie Oliver’s cookbook, we thought this recipe was very eatable but not like the chili we are familiar with. It tasted like a bolognese sauce with chili powder and beans. I think it must have been the balsamic vinegar and the cinnamon. I am interested to see what you think. Here is the ingredient list. The above link will give you this list in our Plan to Eat account. Ingredients

  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • carrots
  • 2 stalks celery
  • red bell peppers
  • olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans
  • 2 (14 1/2-oz.) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • lime
